DESOPADEC BOARD PAYS CONDOLENCE VISIT TO AKOZOR'S FAMILY. Featured

The Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer, DESOPADEC, Bashorun Askia Ogieh, today 6th September, 2021, led other members of the Board of DESOPADEC on a condolence visit to
the family of late Hon Christian Ikechukwu Akozor, who died on Thursday 2nd September, 2021, at the age of 65 years.
Late Hon. Akozor was until his death, a member of the present Board of DESOPADEC.
Speaking during the condolence visit at the residence of the Akozors in Kwale, Bashorun Ogieh said that the kind of leadership quality that Akozor exhibited during his short stay with the Board could not be quantified, noting that he was a decent and humble man who was at peace with humankind.
According to the MD/CEO, late Akozor’s tenacity, kindness, genuine empathy, love for his people and resolve to ensure that his community got the very best from DESOPADEC, were the testimonials that people still remembered.
“I say here with all sense of humility and purpose that he had lived a worthy life worth emulating and a source of inspiration to many persons such that we can only take solace on the fact that he lived a good life, was a very decent and humble man who reflected what truly humanity is all about,” he emphasized.
Continuing, Bashorun Ogieh said that the life of Hon Akozor was not only a source of inspiration but a clarion call on all of them in positions of leadership to now think and reflect on how to be remembered after their time on earth.
“So, we are here to commiserate with the family and to let them know that we will always be there for them in this trying period. We are always with them in prayers and supplication to the Almighty God to give them the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss,” he said.
He then solicited for the cooperation of the family to ensure that they informed the Board of their plans towards the interment of the deceased, as according to him, Hon Akozor would be given the burial deserving of the very good man that he was.
“May his soul continue to rest in peace and the memories he had left for all of us will continue to linger for a very long time and the experience, we will not throw away,” he finalized.
Responding on behalf of the family, Hon Richard Egodibie, thanked the Board members for their visit, adding that the request as tendered by the MD/ CEO, Bashorun Ogieh would be taken note of.
Highpoint of the visit was the rendering of supplication to God Almighty for the repose of the soul of the deceased and prayers for the family by the Member representing Isoko Nation, Dr. Paul Oweh.
Meanwhile, in a related development, the Board of Trustees and the Exco Members of Ndokwa Nation Staff in DESOPADEC led by Chief JP Odalonu had also in the early part of today, paid a condolence visit to Late Hon. Akozor’s family where they also solicited for the cooperation of the family to be included in the burial arrangement.
