The Governor who was visibly elated at the top of the range projects, expressed delight over the positive impact of his corporate restructuring of the Commission in 2015, to address its responsiveness and efficient service delivery to the oil-bearing mandate areas, even as he was full of praise for the current proactive Board for meeting the yearnings and aspirations of the people, in project execution.
The Governor had a full day in Isoko nation, as he commissioned one landmark project after the other at Ozoro, Oleh and Uzere.
At Ozoro, the Governor cut the tape to formally commission the famed Opute Hall, a community hall that has suffered neglect, indecision and non-commitment for close to 42 queer years, until DESOPADEC intervened to salvage, complete and commission the project, which also had a purpose-built shopping complex and other commercial paraphernalia to complement it.
In quick succession, the Governor was at Oleh to also commission the fully furnished students hostel and housing complex, for visiting lecturers at the Faculty of Engineering, Delta Stste University, Oleh Campus. These projects, according to the Managing Director/CEO, Bashorun Askia Ogieh, were undertaken in response to the request of the university management, to the Commission, to intervene and alleviate the accommodation challenges confronting the institution.
The Governor was equally at Uzere to cut the tape commissioning the total rehabilitation of Uzere Grammar School and indeed the ultra modern Uzere Civic Centre.
In the words of the Governor, these projects remain as concrete evidence and signal to the new corporate template and vision, with which the present Board is running, to deliver quality and need-based projects to its mandate areas.
The remarkable feat of delivering these projects in record time, has endeared the Commission and burnished its image, as an agency of the Delta State Government, primed to meeting the infrastructure needs of the people.
Elated, excited, fulfilled and accomplished are terms fit to describe the mood of the MD/CEO and his uncommon executive team and Board Members, regarding today's epoch-making and breathtaking commissioning of grade A projects. The year 2020 certainly has a lot in stock, in a harvest of a plethora of projects, lined up in the weeks ahead.
