On August 28, 2015, the Governor of Delta State, Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa inaugurated the third Board of DESOPADEC since its creation in 2006 with a clear mandate to develop the oil producing areas of the state.
Inaugurating the 14-man Board at the Unity Hall, Asaba, the Governor tasked them to be sound in corporate
governance and provide greater accountability and transparency. He advised the Board to draw up projects
using the bottom-top approach for implementation as there is no room for incompetence and greed and called for greater discipline and sacrifice from them.
Those inaugurated as members of the Board includes : Hon.Godwin Ebosa (Chairman), Chief William Makinde (Managing Director), as well as four Executive Directors -Chief Askia Ogieh, Hon Chris Ochor Ochor, Mr Philip Gbasin, and Engr Victor Oritsetimeyin Wood.
Chief Makinde, while fielding questions from journalists in Asaba, explained that DESOPADEC under his tenure would address all the yearnings and aspirations of the oil bearing communities. The MD maintained that oil-bearing communities in the state would experience massive people-oriented projects geared towards the S.M.A.R.T Agenda of the state government.

Engineer Victor Oritsetimeyin Wood is the Executive Director, Directorate of planning , Research and Statistics (DPRS) in DESOPADEC, a directorate he describes as the engine room of the Commission.
In this interview with the duo of Larry Mogbeyiteren and Ibru Nejuvie in his office, he brought his vast private sector background to bear in his new assignment.
DESOPADEC TODAY: What is the role of the Directorate of Planning, Research and Statistics (DPRS) in DESOPADEC?

Warri North Local Government Area Chairman, Mr. Francis Maku ‐ Eyituoyor has lauded Governor Ifeanyi Okowa over the appointment of Mr. Godwin Ebosa as Chairman of Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC.
He also commended the governor for his commitment to raise the bar of development for the people as the state marks the 24th anniversary of its creation.
Maku‐Eyituoyor said that as a former council Chairman with a radiant antecedence in the private sector, Ebosa has the experience of managing financial, human and material resources efficiently, attributes, which he will bring to bear in administering the affairs of the Commission to the satisfaction of oil bearing communities and the state government.
Itsekiri representative in the newly constituted Board of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), Engr. Victor Oritsetimeyin Wood has thanked the Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse II for finding him worthy to be presented for the appointment.
The Managing Director of DESOPADEC, Chief William Makinde has stated that his mission and vision for the Commission is to lift people out of poverty through infrastructural and human capital development.
