THE NEW DESOPADEC BOARD Featured

Board to draw up projects

using the bottom-top approach for implementation as there is no room for incompetence and greed and called for greater discipline and sacrifice from them.

Those inaugurated as members of the Board includes : Hon.Godwin Ebosa (Chairman), Chief William Makinde (Managing Director), as well as four Executive Directors -Chief Askia Ogieh, Hon Chris Ochor Ochor, Mr Philip Gbasin, and Engr Victor Oritsetimeyin Wood.

Others inaugurated as representatives of oil producing areas are Chief Amos ItiwheChief Pius Ovbije, Mr Jonathan Amitaye, Hon Ovie Oghoore, Chief Thomas Ereyitomi, Mr Nnamdi Ezechi, Hon Fidelis Chukwuwike Oputa and Chief Favour Izoukumor.

With the new law restructuring the Commission, DESOPADEC will no longer have an Executive Chairman but a Managing Director and four Executive Directors in charge of the day-to-day administration of the Commission.

Determined to instil greater transparency and responsiveness, the Chairman and eight other members representing the mandate areas will operate on part-time as against the former.

As a special interventionist agency, it is imperative to subject the Commission and its activities to periodic reviews and ensure that the key objectives are realised even in the face of dwindling resources. It is also expected that meaningful and impactful projects should be embarked upon as against wanting to score cheap political points and to avoid duplication of projects and waste of funds of the Commission.

Considering the pedigree of the Board Members, there is the conviction thatthe new DESOPADEC Board will do better than their predecessors in office. This is a further charge for them not to betray the confidence reposed in them by improving on Governor Okowa's S.M.A.R.T Agenda of prosperity for all Deltans.

It is also instructive that staff of the Commission should understand the new direction of the remodelled DESOPADEC and appreciate the whole essence of the new structure. We must do away with the old mindset and embrace the changes that are coming as it is no longer business as usual.

DESOPADEC Today congratulates the new Board Members as they settle down to write their names in gold, avoiding the mistakes of the past and charting a new course of sustainable development that will transform the mandate areas.

In this wise, all stakeholders must be carried along in the onerous task of bringing development to the door steps of the people and communities who have suffered untold hardship and neglect over the years.
